Why QAS Exists
Because good accounting shouldn't be a luxury reserved for big nonprofits
The Problem
Too many brilliant, mission-critical queer and QTBIPOC-led organizations are held back by messy books, compliance stress, and volunteer treasurers who are drowning. Traditional accounting firms are expensive, culturally misaligned, or completely unfamiliar with nonprofit work. Grassroots orgs get stuck choosing between paying rent and paying an accountant—and that's not a real choice.
The Solution
Queer Accounting Solutions removes financial management as a barrier to community impact. We embed professional accounting expertise into nonprofit operations so organizations can meet compliance requirements, build trust with funders and boards, and make informed decisions grounded in accurate financial data. We treat accounting not as a back-office function, but as essential infrastructure for sustainable, mission-driven work.
💯 Community Accountability
We're accountable to the communities we serve—not shareholders or corporate interests. A Program Advisory Board will guide our work.
🎯 Real Nonprofit Expertise
Fund accounting, grant compliance, audits, Form 990s, cost allocations—we know nonprofit finance inside and out.
📢 Transparent Pricing
No hidden fees, no corporate markups. Our rates reflect expertise and care—not overhead.
🌱 Trust-Based Approach
We build capacity, not dependency. The goal is for organizations to thrive—with or without us.
Meet Demi
Demi is a nonprofit accountant with over 7 years of professional experience, including work at top-10 CPA firms (Marcum/CBIZ) and board service with community-based nonprofits. They've supported 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(6) organizations through audits, Form 990 preparation, compliance reviews, and financial systems buildout.
As a queer accountant, Demi brings both technical expertise and lived community experience. They founded QAS because they saw firsthand how financial barriers limit the reach and sustainability of queer-led organizations—and they knew there was a better way.
QAS is structured as a mission-driven LLC, balancing earned revenue from fee-for-service clients with grant-funded programmatic work. This model ensures both financial sustainability and equitable access to services.
Program Advisory Board
We're building a Program Advisory Board composed of community members, nonprofit leaders, and accounting/finance professionals. The Board will provide guidance, accountability, and community perspective for the Queer Ledgers program—without exerting fiduciary control over the LLC. Stay tuned for announcements.
